May 6th 2006 all day slow

May 10, 2006

Started the morning with two new anglers Gary and Ernie. They were down for a wedding to be held in the afternoon. I sure hope we do not break down.

The morning was beautiful but the fish were not cooperating very much. We started out with free lined shrimp on a 3/0 circle hook with 17lb fluorocarbon leader.

Here is Ernie with the first speck of the day.

We caught several small specks and then moved on to the grassflats.

We broke out the jerkbaits and worked the edges of the grassbeds when Gary connected on this speck.

Not long after Gary found a poor man’s tarpon!

We finished out a slow day with 12 small specks.

The day was not over for me. I picked up the boat and raced over to Perdido Bay to met up with Brad and his father-n-law Frank.

The fishing remained slow. We used a popping cork and 3/0 circle hook with a live shrimp.

Here is Brad fighting a real nice fish.

After a few seconds fighting the fish Brad boats a nice speck.

Frank had earlier caught a small redfish but would not be denied this real nice keeper redfish!

We finished the slow afternoon with 1 speck, 2 redfish and several catfish.

Until tommorrow good luck and good fishing!

God Bless
Capt Wes
