September 21 2006 bottom bumping for flounder to top twitching for specks

September 23, 2006

Now after several days of wind, rain and our first cold front moving through the weather cleared to make this beautiful day for fishing. As I waited for Joe and Penguin to arrive at the dock I could not help but look at the beauty of this September sunrise

Joe called and said he would like to catch a few flounder if possible. After several holes coming up dry we finally found a hole with plenty of plate size flatties. Here is Penguin with a healthy flounder for the table.

The morning ended with 20 flounder boated and 10 kept for the dinner table.

Jay and Julie arrived as I was cleaning the fish for Joe and Penguin. They were excited about their prospects of catching fish as well.

We tied on some topwater plugs and hit the flats. After several fishing holes and the release of a few bluefish and ladyfish the tide turned and the wind shifted to the SW. The specks came to life as for the next several drifts we had plenty of explosions which resulted in plenty of specks in the boat. Here is Julie with her first speck of the day.

Jay followed with his first speck of the day!

The day ended just as the day began. Beautiful weather fishing with great friends!

Until our next fishing adventure….tight lines!

September 5th 2006 Overcast and waters smooth

September 13, 2006

As we pulled way from the dock we looked to the east. The skies were still dark but you could see red in the back ground as the sun was surely rising. We run to the west and found a small grassbed that was holding plenty of BIG bluefish.

The sky was becoming more lighted and the water was smooth as glass. Chris quickly hooked up with a nice bluefish using a chug bug worked aggressively on the top.

I have had the pleasure of fishing with Chris before and I will say he is a true fisherman. It does not matter what the fish is as long as it will make his drag scream as did this bluefish.

Mike who I have fished with and a new angler Chris both working their chug bugs as the bluefish explode on every twitch of the rod.

I do not think Chris has done alot of fishing before this trip but here is his first of the day.

Mike showing off one of his fish caught this day.

The blues became less interested with our plugs as the sun moved higher in the sky and the clouds moved further into the gulf. We decided to move to the east to find a couple of keeper specks for dinner.

After catching several specks I perched myself close to Chris when this huge explosion erupted 50 feet from the boat. I yelled out “redfish on redfish on!”

It was a huge redfish and the drag was screaming. This by far was the biggest fish Chris had ever fought and was very excited and wanted this fish in the boat.

A few minutes later and excellent fighting skills from Chris and this beauty was aboard for pictures.

What a great way to end another fishing adventure! Plenty of fish caught and lots of good times and memories.

Until our next fishing adventure….tight lines!

September 1st 2006 young Kyle has a great day

The wind was blowing but there was no way Kyle was going to be turned away from getting in my boat! We caught a few pinfish and small spots and left for the first fishing hole.

I rigged up a popping cork with a #2/0 circle hook with 20″es of floracarbon leader and baited up Kyle’s hook. After a couple of misses Kyle is hooked up with a real nice pull!

A couple of minutes later and he has a nice speck!

Kyle catches several small specks and a huge ladyfish and then is hooked up with a BIG something.

Wow, what a GATOR trout!

Wait Kyle how about a picture with Dad and Poppy!

Now we did not take any pictures of Dad and Poppy with fish but they did catch several on this very windy day. Kyle was the Grand Champion catching the BIGGEST and I believe the most!

Great day with plenty of fellowshipping.

Until our next fishing adventure….tight lines!

August 28th 2006 Peter from England to enjoy some North America fishing

September 11, 2006

Mike and Helen had their nephew from England in our country for some summer vacation. Peter had never really fished before but very quickly picked up the techniques and was casting and retrieving the lures like a pro.

Peter is thinking about the first fish he is going to catch or the American girls he will meet today on the beach as the sun rises?

Peter has a rod bender on!

Peter with the first of many fish he will catch today.

Now I got to fish with Helen last year and she is an awesome fisherman. As you can see here with this nice fish she is fighting.

Wow, a nice speck for dinner!

Peter with his first speck.

Now I do not know how I missed Mike not catching any of the many fish he caught today but here is a rare photo of Mike fighting a fish.

It was truely a great day on the water and I think Peter will leave our beautiful country with many memories.

Until our next fishin’ adventure….tight lines!

August 27th 2006 a Fishin’ Chix brushing up on some inshore techniques

Cindy a Fishin’ Chix member called me and said “I want to go and catch some fish”. Well, you know me and off we went.

The day started out as a cool overcast day with rain in the gulf. Cindy retrieving her topwater lure as a rainbow appears in the west.

At the end of every rainbow is a pot of gold. For cindy it was a nice bluefish.

Now that is a smile!

The clouds moved on and the air started to heat up but Cindy was ready for another big fight!

Cindy smiles as here drag is screaming “fish on”!

A very nice pompano for the grill.

Until our next fishing adventure….tight lines!
