Mar 21st 2007 red skies in the morning sailors take warning

March 22, 2007

Well we started out with red skies in the morning sailors take warning. Ok what could happen? Well as we were tying off at Ft Pickens the captain runs over the anchor rope. Ok 20 minutes and i get it cleared from the prop.

So we start fishing for sheephead using a #2 circle hook, 15″ 17lb floracarbon leader, swivel and a 1/8 oz egg weight.

Brett started the morning with a nice sheephead.

Chris followed with one of his own.

Lost and caught a few more and got a nice show from the blues!

Then the red skies appeared again. Bow rope broke and we were adrift. Dang! So the fishing went down hill from there. We fished the pass and jetties…NO FISH!

So we ended up in a small bayou and picked up a couple of undersized redfish. Here is Chris with his first.

Well we made it back to the dock with out anymore red sky problems!!!

UNtil our next fishing adventure…tight lines!

Alex with a nice black drum.

Now this critter you do not want to mess with. Alex called this a fire worm.

Steven finished out the day with this nice black drum.

march 17th 2007 fishing with my wife

My good friend Jay from Georgia could not get enough fishing a week ago so he called and said lets do it again. We started the day looking for red fish but after seeing only a couple we decided to soak some shrimp.

I went to one of my honey holes and found the redfish on fire! Larua bagged the biggest of a dozen redfish.

Jay caught this whopper after telling Larua how to fish her shrimp… yeh Jay show us how it is done!

I enjoyed my new friends and hope to see them many times during the summer.

March 17th 2007 sight fishing for reds in the gulf

My anglers today are Dakota and Jonathan.

We started the day out trying to stay warm. As you can see in the pictures it was just alittle chilly today!

I had both Dakota and Jonathan on the bow looking for reds on the beach. We worked the beach for a couple of hours but never found any reds.

We anchored up in the pass and found a few fish. Here is Dakota with his nice pompano.

Jonathan got into the action with this nice sheephead.

A couple of great guys on a chilly morning.

Until our next adventures…tight lines!

March 14th 2007 the day that almost wasn’t!

March 14, 2007

March 13th 2007 was a Shawn day for fishing

March 13, 2007

My good friend Ryan, his dad, Brent and Shawn went in search of fish any fish. The fog could be cut with a knife it was that thick. It took us about 1. 5 hours to get to the pass. Anchored up and started fishing with #2 circle hooks and a 1 oz egg weight.

Very slow for the first 45 minutes. Then the spade fish showed up. Dad hooked up on a redfish but broke off at the boat. Ten minutes later he was on again and we had our first fish of the day.

Thank the Lord we brought Shawn. He caught on fire and started bringing in black snapper one after another. Then he hooked up with this nice black drum.

Most of the snapper were 9 inches long and then BAM shawn catches this really nice fish.

All in all a good day. Fog finaly burned off. We had a few fish to clean.

As for Brent on catching fish…well lets just say he road in the back of the truck home!

Until our next fishing adventures…tight lines!

March 12th 2007 the weather is beautiful and the site fishing is excellent

March 12, 2007

Scott wanted redfish and wanted to sight fish for them. Ok I am in for that!

Working the beach from east to west with sun at our back. Scott throws a gold spoon 15′ in front of a school of about 50 pluse fish. BAM …line is screaming off the spool.

Five minutes later and here is a nice 15lb red.

About 300 yards and we spotted another school of about 100 redfish. Scott again made another great cast and BAM on again.

Here is Scott with the end result!

Was a great morning on the beach. We also tried the grassflats with NO FISH>

Until our next fishing ADVENTURE…TIGHT LINES!
